Third Week Report of the 2024 Edition of the Soles for Little Souls School Sandals Distribution Project

The third week of the 2024 Edition of the Friends of Ronzls Foundation Annual Soles for Little Souls School Sandals Distribution Project took place from Tuesday, 8 October, to Friday, 11 October 2024. Since Monday, 7 October 2024, was a public holiday in celebration of World Teachers’ Day, our team also took the day off to recharge for the week ahead.

Project Overview

The Soles for Little Souls Project is driven by a mission to provide free new school sandals to learners who:

  • Attend school with damaged footwear.
  • Wear inappropriate footwear not allowed by the school.
  • Lack proper sandals because their parents or guardians cannot afford them.

For the 2024 edition, our goal is to distribute over 3,200 pairs of sandals across beneficiary schools. By the end of the third week, 2,290 pairs have already been distributed to students in 35 government primary schools in Sagamu.

Distribution Process and Challenges

Our dedicated team visited each school in person to ensure that every child received the correct sandal size. Distributing the sandals was no small task—it involved fitting the sandals on each pupil to guarantee they were comfortable and appropriate. Though the process was demanding, seeing the joy on the children’s faces made it all worthwhile.

Many of the beneficiaries were visibly relieved and excited, with several arriving at school wearing worn-out sandals or even slippers, which are not suitable for school attendance. Providing them with proper footwear was not just about comfort—it was about restoring their dignity and showing them that they matter.

Impact and Reflections

This project goes beyond simply handing out sandals. It represents love, hope, and care, sending a powerful message to the children and their families that they are not alone. For these young learners, new sandals offer more than protection for their feet—they bring renewed enthusiasm for learning and school life.

As we look forward to the remaining weeks of the 2024 edition, we remain committed to our vision: to ensure that no child goes to school without proper footwear. We are grateful to our team, supporters, and donors for their continued efforts in making a difference, one pair of sandals at a time.

Conclusion

With just a few weeks left in this year’s distribution campaign, we are excited about the progress made so far and are motivated to reach all targeted beneficiaries. The Friends of Ronzls Foundation remains committed to supporting these children and empowering them with both practical necessities and emotional support.

Together, we are making strides toward a brighter, more compassionate future—one step at a time.
