Friends of Ronzls Foundation Annual Quiz & Spelling Bee in Ilorin: A Day to Remember
The sun had barely risen on Thursday, 29th May 2025, but excitement was already buzzing at Pakata LGEA School, Ilorin. Children in crisp uniforms ran across the schoolyard, chatting and laughing, while teachers guided the last-minute preparations.
Today was special. Today, Friends of Ronzls Foundation brought its Annual Quiz and Spelling Bee Competition to Ilorin for the very first time.
As the event began, the energy in the room was electric. Pupils from Ikhwan Nasirudeen LGEA School, Isale-Aluko, Shuban A and B LGEA Schools, Ita-Kudima, and Pakata LGEA School gathered in the hall.
Some fidgeted nervously in their seats, and others whispered last-minute answers to themselves. Every face shone with anticipation.
The first challenge of the competition.
The first challenge was the Quiz. Pens scratched paper as children tackled questions on Mathematics, English, Science, ICT, and General Knowledge. Concentration was everywhere. Teachers watched with pride while volunteers moved quietly between tables, ensuring everything ran smoothly.
Then came the Spelling Bee. One by one, pupils stepped onto the stage. Hearts pounded, breaths held, as each child spelt words aloud. The audience leaned forward with every letter, erupting into cheers when words were spelt correctly. Confidence, courage, and intelligence radiated from every participant.
After intense rounds, the winners were announced. Kehinde Saidat of Ikhwan Nasirudeen LGEA School took first place, her face lighting up with joy. Abiodun Isak, her schoolmate, secured second, while Jamiu Rodiat from Shuban A LGEA School took third.
Their hard work was celebrated with prizes, but the real victory was the spirit of learning displayed by all the children. Every participant received a prize, a symbol of recognition and encouragement.
Mrs Ola Sulaimon, founder of Friends of Ronzls Foundation, addressed the children with warmth and pride. She reminded them that today was more than a competition. It was a celebration of knowledge, confidence, and potential. The applause that followed was heartfelt, echoing the pride everyone felt.
By the end of the day, the schoolyard was filled with laughter and stories of the day’s triumphs.
Teachers exchanged proud smiles, volunteers packed up with satisfaction, and pupils carried home memories they would treasure forever.
