Today, Thursday 29th May 2025, we held the Friends of Ronzls Foundation Annual Quiz and Spelling Bee Competition right in the heart of Ilorin, Kwara State. This marks the first time we have held this event in Ilorin, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out. The energy, participation, and enthusiasm from the pupils and schools made it a truly memorable experience for all of us.
The competition took place at Pakata LGEA School, Pakata, Ilorin, which also served as the host school. We were delighted to welcome pupils and teachers from a number of selected schools in the area, including Ikhwan Nasirudeen LGEA School, Isale-Aluko, Ilorin; Shuban A LGEA School, Ita-Kudima, Ilorin; Shuban B LGEA School, Ita-Kudima, Ilorin and of course, Pakata LGEA School, Pakata, Ilorin itself.
Our competition was divided into two main sections. The first was the Quiz, which was a written, paper-and-pencil test. It covered a range of subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Science, General Knowledge, and ICT. The second section was the Spelling Bee, where pupils were called up one by one to spell words aloud in front of the audience. It was a great joy to see the confidence and intelligence these children displayed during both sections.
We were incredibly proud of all the participants, and the competition was tough, but in the end, we had our winners. Kehinde Saidat from Ikhwan Nasirudeen LGEA School, Isale-Aluko, Ilorin took first place. Her schoolmate, Abiodun Isak, secured the second position, while Jamiu Rodiat from Shuban A LGEA School, Ita-Kudima, Ilorin came in third. Each of them received prizes to celebrate their outstanding performance.
In addition to awarding the top three contestants, we made sure every participant went home with a prize. We believe in recognizing and encouraging every child who steps up to challenge themselves. Their participation alone is something to be celebrated, and we are proud to support their academic journeys.
We are deeply grateful to the schools that participated, the teachers who prepared the pupils, and the volunteers who made today’s event a success. Bringing this competition to Ilorin has been a wonderful experience, and we’re excited to continue expanding our educational outreach to more communities across Nigeria.
At Friends of Ronzls Foundation, we remain committed to promoting literacy, learning, and academic excellence among children. Today was more than a competition—it was a celebration of knowledge, confidence, and the bright future of our youth.
