Friends of Ronzls Foundation Annual Quiz and Spelling Bee Competition 4.0: A Celebration of Young Minds

The Friends of Ronzls Foundation Annual Quiz and Spelling Bee Competition 4.0 (2024 Preliminaries) has just concluded, marking another successful chapter in this prestigious academic event. Commencing on Monday, May 13, 2024, this year’s competition brought together bright young minds from across various primary schools, fostering an atmosphere of learning, challenge, and camaraderie.

 

 

Eligibility and Participation

Eligibility for the competition required participants to be in Primary 5 or Primary 6, enrolled as registered students of their respective schools, and willing participants without any external pressure. Adhering to a strict dress code, all participants were required to appear in their school uniforms, maintaining the decorum and seriousness of the event.

A total of 48 schools participated, with 192 eager learners vying for the top spots across different zones. These students showcased their knowledge and skills in a variety of subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Science, Spelling Bee, Information & Communication Technology, and General Knowledge/Current Affairs. The competition was structured to narrow down to 12 finalists who would advance to the next stage.

 

  

Day 1: Offin Zone

The competition kicked off at St. Columcilles Catholic Nursery and Primary School, Offin, Sagamu. Twelve schools from the Offin zone participated, each represented by four learners. The day was filled with intense rounds of questions and impressive displays of knowledge. The top performers were:

  1. Sofile Misturah from St. Paul School II, Ijoku, Sagamu, clinched the first position with 77 points.
  2. Osho Demilade from St. Paul School Ofin, Alagbo, Sagamu, secured the second position with 72 points.
  3. Adekomaya Bamidele from St. Columcilles Catholic Nursery and Primary School, finished third with 71.75 points.

 

Day 2: Makun Zone

The second day moved to Ansar Ur Deen Primary School, Makun, Sagamu. The competition remained fierce as participants from the Makun zone competed. The winners of the day were:

  1. Kareem Alim from Local Government Primary School, Makun, Sagamu, took the first place with 75.5 points.
  2. Wusu Anuoluwapo from AUD Primary School, Makun, Sagamu, came second with 72.5 points.
  3. Ogunike Adesewa from St. Paul’s Anglican Primary School I, Makun Sagamu, secured third place with 67 points.

 

 

Day 3: Sabo Zone

Hosted at Oba Adeniyi Sonariwo Primary School, Sabo, Sagamu, the third day saw participants from the Sabo zone. The young competitors continued to shine, with the following students emerging as winners:

  1. Benson Jesse from Local Government Primary School, Ewu Osi, achieved the first position with 66.5 points.
  2. Okeowo Oyinlola from St. Paul Primary School, Ayetoro, obtained the second position with 64.25 points.
  3. Victor Isaiah from Oba Adeniyi Sonariwo Primary School, Sabo, Sagamu, also earned 64.25 points, securing third place.

 

Day 4: Sotubo/Simawa Zone

The final preliminary day took place at Wesley Primary School, Gbara, featuring participants from the Sotubo/Simawa zone. The concluding day was just as competitive, with the top positions being:

  1. Johnson Darasimi from Local Government Primary School, Eriyo-Gbaga, Sagamu, won first place with 69.5 points.
  2. Asafa Solah from African Church Primary School, Ewu-Oloja, came in second with 67.75 points.
  3. Daud Jamal from St. Paul Primary School, Simawa, secured third place with 67.25 points.

 

 

Commendations and Encouragement

Mrs. Ola Sulaimon, the founder of the Friends of Ronzls Foundation, commended all participants for their dedication and hard work. She emphasized the importance of perseverance and continuous learning, encouraging students to strive for excellence. “I want to urge all students to keep striving for excellence. The grand finale won’t be easy, but with determination and hard work, I have no doubt that our students will make us proud. To those who didn’t make it this time, don’t give up – keep learning and pushing yourself to be better,” she said.

 

The Road to the Finale

The top three winners from each zone, making a total of 12 finalists, will advance to the grand finale of the competition. These young scholars will once again showcase their knowledge and skills, competing for the coveted top spots and a range of exciting prizes.

The Friends of Ronzls Foundation Annual Quiz and Spelling Bee Competition remains a beacon of academic excellence, inspiring young learners to achieve their best and fostering a spirit of healthy competition.
